In 2018, we offered one student the chance to win a $500 scholarship to help further their academic goals. Amazed at the responses, we renewed the award in 2019. Now, for the third time in a row, Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP, is offering one hard-working student another opportunity to win our Foundation For Your Future Scholarship.

This award will provide one high school senior or college student with a $2,500 scholarship for post-secondary expenses. All citizens, permanent residents, and DACA recipients who are in good standing with their school are allowed to apply. We ask that all applicants submit a 500 to 1,000 word essay that answers the following prompt:

Extraordinary people leave an indelible mark on the world – and on the people around them. WRSH’s founder, William Wingate, was one of those men. A World War II Navy veteran, Bill served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, served as Deputy Mayor of the Village of Ocean Beach, and was a leading member in numerous community, religious, and charity organizations, honored and beloved for his contributions. We offer this scholarship on the eleventh anniversary of his passing, and ask you to answer a simple question: Who do you look up to, and why?

Our 2019 winner, Jordan T., shared with us the story of Katherine Johnson and how she informed Jordan’s passion for STEM. You are more than welcome to read her essay for inspiration, but make sure to that your personal essay is unique to you. Outline who has inspired you and how they’ve had an impact on your journey. We want to honor the individuals that are motivating the youth of today.

The deadline to apply is May 6, 2020. We will reveal our finalists on May 20th and announce the winner of the Foundation For Your Future Scholarship on June 3rd on our blog and Facebook page. Double check both for further announcements and updates in the coming months!
