We faced a difficult task selecting a single winner among all the worthy applicants whose essays we reviewed.

Ella’s essay gives a poignant account of the work she is doing to assist a local doctor who provides end-of-life care to terminally ill children.
Ella’s account of how she helps these children and their families is deeply touching. Like her mentor, Ella hopes to become a physician herself one day, and we are confident that she will provide her patients with outstanding care.
