Don’t Let Potholes Get You Down
While there are hundreds of remarkable things to see and do in New York City, there is an endless supply of not-so beautiful things—like the potholes that litter our streets. Not only unpleasant to behold, they are a serious hazard that can ruin vehicles and cause crashes. The good news is you can seek compensation for relatively minor issues like damage to your tires and rims from the City; the bad news is there are restrictions on them.
Philip Russotti Talks About Birth Injuries
Birth injuries are one of the areas of medical malpractice that Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP, specializes in. The top New York personal injury firm understands all aspects of the process leading up to delivery, whether it’s properly assessing a mother prior to delivery, the circumstances under which delivery should be expedited through an emergency C-section, or the proper way to resuscitate a baby.

Confidential Settlement in Valhalla Train Crash Sparks Anger
Four years ago, a commuter train of the Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line struck an SUV at a crossing in Valhalla, New York. The SUV burst into flames, and sparks from the electrified third rail of the tracks caused the lead train cars to catch on fire. The driver of the SUV was killed, along with five train passengers. Fifteen train riders were injured.
Could a Silent Killer Be in Your Home?
Carbon monoxide (CO) is odorless, colorless, and essentially undetectable by people and animals. You probably encounter small amounts every day, yet in large quantities, it can make you sick or kill you in a short time.
Fortunately, the use of carbon monoxide detectors can help you avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, and they are legally required in all private dwellings in New York. If a landlord fails to provide and maintain a CO detector for renters, that can make him or her liable for illness that occurs as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. Similarly, a failure to maintain gas appliances can also make a landlord liable for illness. If you suspect carbon-monoxide-related illness, call our NY personal injury lawyers right away. The sooner we investigate, the sooner we can determine the cause if your illness and see if there’s compensation available.
Snow and Ice May Crush NYC Roofs
While you walk on an icy New York sidewalk, it’s easy to focus on the ground and forget to look up. But winter can leave dangers everywhere, and roofs are at risk of collapse as snow piles up on top of them. When a roof collapses, people can be seriously injured or killed, and it can cause extensive property damage—not just to the building, but to anything inside.

Who’s at Fault for Snowplow Collisions?
On January 8th, 2018, a snowplow driver in New Jersey struck two vehicles while operating a Department of Transportation vehicle. This would have been bad enough, but when finally stopped by police and tested, he had a blood alcohol content level nine times higher than the legal limit! The driver had multiple DUI arrests on his record, yet was still allowed to get behind the wheel of a massive truck and drive on public streets.
While collisions with snowplows are thankfully rare in New York, when they do happen, the destruction they can cause is immense.

‘Tis the Season for Safe Construction!
Although summer is the best time of year for construction, with fewer weather-related obstacles to worry about, there is still plenty of work getting done during the long winter months. Snow and ice can’t stop the march of progress in New York City, and our inexhaustible construction workers are out there in the cold dark of a new year working on buildings and making repairs.
But there is a reason warm weather is better for construction—not only do snow and ice make the work harder, they also create much more hazardous conditions.
Don’t Let Dangerous Toys End Up Under Your Tree
Few things are quite as satisfying as watching a child’s eyes light up as he or she receives a new toy. This is often followed by the child furiously unwrapping the toy to start playing with it immediately—even as other gifts wait, still wrapped!
The last thing any parent wants is to give a gift that ends up posing a serious danger to the child. And yet, on average, a child is treated in an emergency room in the U.S. about every three minutes for a toy-related injury!
What can you do this holiday season to prevent injuries to your child?
