Attorneys Carmine Goncalves and Erin K. Hurley settled for $1.5 million, plus a full workers’ compensation lien waiver, for a Brazilian laborer who slipped when he stepped on a pipe and fell onto a rebar framework. Our client injured his right knee and shoulder and suffered a herniated disc in his neck and back. He received conservative treatment for his neck and back injuries and underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair his right shoulder and knee. Defendants argued that the condition that caused the accident was integral to the work and, therefore, they could not be held at fault. The case settled while the defendants’ motion to dismiss the case was pending.
