Attorneys Carmine Goncalves and Erin K. Hurley obtained a $1.725 million settlement, plus a significant reduction of the workers' compensation lien, for a sheetrock taper from Brazil. While carrying a 50-pound bucket of spackling paste, our client was injured when he slipped on debris that was left on the building's interior stairs and fell backward down the stairs. Our client suffered a herniated lumbar disc and a left shoulder injury, which required surgery. Defendants claimed workers were directed to use material hoists to move construction equipment and materials between floors, our client should not have used the stairs, and that he was specifically instructed not to do so.
