New York Carpenter Accident
While summary judgment motions were pending, Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP attorneys Erin Hurley and Carmine Goncalves reached a $2.65 million settlement for our client, a union carpenter who was seriously injured after he stepped onto an inadequately covered and unguarded opening, causing his feet and lower body to fall into the opening.
Our client sustained lumbar disc herniations, requiring level one fusion surgery. He also required arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder to repair tendons and surgery on his left knee for a torn meniscus. Defendants claimed that the client had been told to stay out of the area where he fell and that he was the cause of his own accident. Our client denied that this ever occurred.
