NYC Construction Accident

Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin attorney Carmine Goncalves secured a $2,250,000 settlement for a then 61-year-old union carpenter working on the construction of a major New York City tower. While performing concrete foundation work several floors underground, the plaintiff was injured when an unsecured beam fell and struck him. The subsequent investigation revealed that the beam had not been properly secured and thus fell and struck the plaintiff because of the contractor’s negligence. Plaintiff was rushed to the hospital with a serious laceration to his head requiring 7 staples to close. He also suffered a significant injury to his neck that required a spinal fusion. Carmine was able to resolve the matter at a private mediation prior to trial.
