Construction Site Accident - Falling Object Injury
Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP attorney, Kenneth J. Halperin, obtained a $300,000.00 settlement for a laborer who was injured while doing demolition inside of a building. At the time of the accident, the plaintiff was in the basement of a brownstone and was instructed to demolish the ceiling through to the floor above. Someone, unbeknownst to the plaintiff, had left a large unsecured piece of plywood on the first floor. While plaintiff and his co-workers were demolishing the ceiling, the piece of plywood fell through an opening in the ceiling and struck the plaintiff on his foot.
As a result of the accident, plaintiff fractured his ankle and required surgery to have pins inserted. Plaintiff underwent three months of physical therapy and returned to work approximately six months after the accident.
