Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP attorney Ashley Jacoby obtained a $1,350,000 settlement on behalf of a 53-year-old Brooklyn woman who was injured in a collision with another vehicle while driving on a Brooklyn Street. The collision occurred in an intersection with a one-way road that was controlled by a stop sign. The impact happened between the front of our client’s car and the passenger side of the other motorist’s vehicle. The defendants contested who had control of the intersection when the collision took place and hired an accident reconstruction expert to assist in their defense.
As a result of the collision, our client sustained serious injuries to her neck and knees, for which she ultimately had surgery. The defendants argued that our client’s injuries were not caused by this motor vehicle accident, but instead had already existed due to a prior automobile accident. At mediation, Ashley argued against defendants’ contentions and, with her client’s consent, turned down a small settlement offer. Based on Ashley’s arguments and the evidence she presented at the mediation, the defendants agreed to pay our client $1,350,000 approximately one month later.
