Motor Vehicle Accident - Passenger Injury
On November 7th, the firm recovered $710,000 just prior to jury selection on behalf of our 60 year old attorney client who was involved in a motor vehicle accident with a police vehicle. While heading home during the evening rush hour, our client was a passenger in a car service vehicle which was struck by an unmarked police van. The police van was in the process of blindly racing through the intersection of 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City pursuing a vehicle that made an illegal right hand turn. The police van cut between cars that were behind a bus, into opposing traffic, ramming our client's car service vehicle.
As a result of the collision our client's hip was fractured. Our client underwent surgery to repair a posterior acetabular hip fracture. He spent months in the hospital and rehabilitation. He is left with a permanent leg length discrepancy and will need hip replacement surgery in the future. There was no claim for lost earnings.
