Noah Katz, lawyer with Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP, obtained a $1,500,000 settlement for a 40-year-old woman injured in a car accident. At the time of the accident, the plaintiff was driving her vehicle when she was struck by the defendant’s vehicle in Nassau County, Long Island.

The plaintiff, who was driving in a traffic circle near Jones Beach, claimed she had the right-of-way and the defendant failed to yield his vehicle. The defendant argued that the plaintiff improperly changed lanes and entered his lane of travel.

As a result of the accident, the plaintiff sustained injuries to her shoulder and spine, which both required surgery. The plaintiff subsequently returned to work, but showed that her ability to work and her job duties had changed as a result of her injuries.

In countering the defendant's attempt to blame the plaintiff for the accident, Noah Katz showed through the deposition testimony of various witnesses, the evidence of damage to the vehicles, and the layout of the roadway that the defendant's position was not credible, and that it was the defendant who failed to yield.

Noah Katz’s preparation for this case ultimately resulted in a pre-trial settlement of $1,500,000.
