Bill Hepner obtained a $300,000 settlement for plaintiff shortly after making his opening statement to the jury at trial. Plaintiff, a 38 year-old woman, had been raped by an intruder in the building in which she lived.

Plaintiff claimed that the defendant, the owner of the building, was negligent in its maintenance of the entrance locks, which allowed the unknown assailant to enter the building and carry out this horrible crime.

Although there were no records of the locks being broken, Bill had our investigator make repeated visits to the building until someone was found who could testify that the locks were inoperable a number of times prior to the incident. Our client, who did not want to testify, decided to accept the settlement which was offered after opening statements.

This case is another example of a case which was referred to this office by an outside personal injury firm.
