Elevator Accident
WRSMH attorney, Cliff Shapiro, obtained a $400,000 settlement for a 42 year old woman who tripped and fell out of an elevator when exiting into the lobby of a building. Evidently, the level of the elevator floor was approximately 1 inch below lobby level.
The Defendants were given prior notice, but no action was taken to correct the problem. Additionally, the Defendants were negligent with respect to the maintenance of the elevator and failed to make timely and necessary inspections.
Our client injured herself severely, tearing her right anterior cruciate ligament and medial meniscus in her knee. She had to undergo complete knee replacement surgery. Prior to the accident, she had been on disability for an unrelated injury and had previously injured her knee. Cliff was able to convince the Defendants to settle prior to the scheduled trial date.
