Premises Liability - Ceiling Collapse

Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP was successful in achieving a settlement in the amount of $250,000 for our client, a 24-year-old woman, who was injured when a portion of the ceiling in her apartment building collapsed on her. As a result of the incident, she suffered injuries to her shoulder and spine. Following a course of conservative treatment which included physical therapy and pain management injections, she was ultimately required to undergo shoulder surgery to repair torn tendons. At private mediation, the firm argued that our client’s injuries were causally related to the incident, and that the building had prior notice of a leaking condition which ultimately caused the ceiling to partially collapse. The case settled following mediation for $250,000.
