Kathy Kettles joined Wingate, Russotti, Shapiro, Moses & Halperin, LLP in June of 1993 as a senior associate and was hired to manage the firm's medical malpractice cases. One of her major strengths is her ability to research and analyze in depth medical malpractice cases prior to review by an expert physician. Kathy's science background and 10 years of nursing provides her with a broad understanding of hospital based medicine.
Many attorneys in this field fail to initially comprehend the medical issues and how medicine is actually practiced. However, Kathy is able to challenge experts in order to test the validity of their opinions, negative or positive, because of her ability to deal with complex medical issues and her knowledge of the actual practice of medicine. This is an invaluable skill which helps insure that we can advise our clients accurately and vigorously prosecute the cases we accept.
Kathy handles the most complex cases in the office including pharmaceutical and medical device actions. She also tries cases, Particularly those which have questions concerning the medical causation of the injuries.
For the past three years Kathy has been the Chair of the Committee on Alcoholism and substance Abuse at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. She also lectures to nursing students and experienced nurses on legal implications of nursing practice.
Please feel free to call Kathy at (212) 986-7353 if you have any questions concerning a potential case involving either yourself, a family member or friend.
